The Daventry Dog Training Club is run by its members and is geared toward people and their pets.
We run regular Monday evening Puppy and Beginner courses which last 8 weeks.
Course content – Both courses cover all the basics, sit, down, walking on the lead, stay, wait, re-calls, & handling.
The Puppy Course will also do more close socializing with each other, and will cover puppy topics like mouthing, exercise, & house training (basically any advice you may need to help you with you pup). It is primarily for dogs under 6 months of age.
In the Beginner Course more time is spent on ‘attention to handlers’, re-calls and walking on the lead (common older dog problems) the topics covered on this course will vary depending on the problems being encountered by the handlers, destructive behaviour is often talked about. The beginners’ course is suitable for adolescent dogs, rescue dogs, or just for someone wanting to start off training with their pet.
There are always trainers on hand to offer advice if you would like to talk on a one-2-one basis.
What can DDTC offer you after the 8 weeks???
When you have completed the 8-week basic course you will be given the option to apply for club membership. A single membership only costs £20 per year. This means you can bring your dog training every Monday for a 45 min class.
Our classes are geared to the Kennel Club Good Citizens Bronze, Silver and Gold exams.
We are a pet dog club, and we try to offer something for every dog. We have flyball & agility sections at the club (and they aren’t all collies!!) We also do sometimes clicker training, heelwork to music, fundraising, new years day walk, dogs xmas party, barbeques and guest speakers.
